It's heartwood yields a high percentage of santalols, very comparable to the Indian Sandalwood.
The documented use of Sandalwood goes back 4000 years to India, Egypt, Greece and Rome. Many temples and structures were built from Sandalwood. In Egypt, people used it in embalming. For centuries Sandalwood has also been used as an aid in meditation, prayer and spiritual practices, "enhance our communication and connection to spirit"
